The Indian Air Force carried out a long-range precision strike against a practice target to mark the second anniversary of the Balakot Operations, sources said on Saturday. The strike was carried out by members of the squadron which conducted the air strikes on terror launch pads in Balakot in Pakistan.

The Centre on Saturday advised states and UTs reporting a surge in Covid-19 cases to not lower their guard, enforce Covid appropriate behaviour and deal firmly with violations. "Six states – Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat- have shown a surge in new cases in the last 24 hours," the Union health ministry said in a statement.
