DMK tops in income among state parties
DMK, which is in office in Tamil Nadu, topped both the income and expenditure lists of 31 regional parties for the financial year 2020-21, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) released on Friday. The Stalin-led party's income was Rs 150 crore while its expenditure was Rs218 crore. DMK also reported the highest increase in its income at Rs 85 crore followed by JD(U) and YSRC in FY21 from FY20.
AI model to predict mortality of heart attack survivors
Every year, nearly 13-14 lakh people in India suffer from a very serious type of heart attack during which one of the heart’s major arteries is blocked. Of them, 8-9% die within 30 days due to complications as well as lack of timely intervention. An artificial intelligence model developed by Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)-Delhi in collaboration with cardiologists from Delhi’s G B Pant Hospital and Harvard Medical School, among others, promises to change this.
Railways notifies 36 top posts under IRMS, removes departmentalism amongst officers
The railway ministry on Thursday merged 36 posts including of the Railway Board chairman and members to create Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) at the top. The ministry said this has been done for “removing departmentalism” amongst railway officers and with this there will be no departmental quota for promotion to this level.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the government is seeking to use technological aids, including drones, to deliver benefits to the poor and the middle class, something that was missing due to the indifference towards the use of technology in governance. Har ghar samridhi, (a smart phone for all, a drone for each field and prosperity for each household is my dream)," Modi said, while inaugurating a drone expo on Friday.
Iconic rifle, helmet at India Gate shifted to National War Memorial
The iconic inverted rifle and the soldier’s war helmet, the symbol of fallen soldiers of the 1971 and which were part of the Amar Jawan Jyoti at the India Gate, were shifted to the National War Memorial on Friday. “With this ceremony, the integration of the memorial of fallen soldiers of 1971 war with National War Memorial has been completed,” the ministry said in a statement.
