The Supreme Court Thursday warned the state football associations of "exercising its authority" if ousted AIFF chief and NCP leader Praful Patel attends their meetings and interferes with the administration of justice.
Bangladesh Cricket Board gives Shakib Al Hasan ultimatum over betting site deal
The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday ordered all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to cancel an endorsement deal with a betting site or face the axe from the national team. Shakib last week announced a partnership with Betwinner news, a portal operated by the gambling firm based on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao. All forms of gambling are illegal in Bangladesh.
Alexander Zverev in fight to be fit for US Open
Germany's world number two Alexander Zverev says he is facing a battle to be fit for the US Open following surgery on torn ankle ligaments at the French Open. Zverev only returned to the practice court last Sunday after the injury he suffered during his semi-final against Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros in June. He turned on his ankle during that match, screaming in pain when trailing Nadal 7-6 (10/8), 6-6 after three hours of play.
Arjun Tendulkar seeks NoC from Mumbai, likely to play for Goa next season
Legendary Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun is all set to leave Mumbai and in all likelihood will ply his trade for south-western neighbours Goa in the next domestic season. Star Indian boxer Vijender Singh does not want to carry the baggage of last year's maiden defeat on the professional circuit as he returns to the ring on Wednesday, saying "I always fight like it's my first." Since turning pro in 2015, Vijender was unbeaten till last March with an enviable 12-0 record, including eight knockouts. But that changed in March last year, when his winning run was brought to an unceremonious end by Russia's Artysh Lopsan via a technical knockout in Goa.
