Priyanka to be party’s face in Uttar Pradesh polls: Cong
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be the Congress face in Uttar Pradesh elections next year, the party said on Sunday in a statement of intent ahead of the crucial polls. It also said that Priyanka was the most popular face in UP and that Congress was in a direct contest with BJP, while Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) have fallen behind in the race.
SC collegium bats for 12 despite govt objection
espite the Centre repeatedly expressing its reservations, the Supreme Court collegium has reiterated at least 12 names for appointment as high court judges — nine advocates for judgeship of the J&K, Calcutta and Karnataka HCs, and three district judges for the Allahabad HC. Some of the collegium’s recommendations have been repeated twice since 2018 and have been pending with the government because of “adverse” reports — some reportedly lack eligibility criteria — against them.

Yuvraj Singh arrested, released on interim bail
The Haryana Police on Sunday said former cricketer Yuvraj Singh was arrested and released on bail in an alleged casteist remarks case in compliance with a high court order. Singh is accused of making casteist remarks against another cricketer during an Instagram chat last year. "Yuvraj Singh came to Hansi on Saturday and we made a formal arrest. He was released on bail bond after a few hours," DSP (Hansi) Vinod Shankar said.
Singhu border incident conspiracy of govt: Tikait
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Sunday said that the Singhu border incident was a "religious matter" and alleged that "the government was behind the act of spoiling the atmosphere near the border." A call on whether to retain MS Doni for the next season of the IPL will be taken only after knowing the rules of the system, a top Chennai Super Kings official said on Sunday.
